Roots and Resonance

Spiritual Artist • Visionary Leader • Founder, Libre Essence Studio Ananta

Born in Calcutta in 1973, Anuragk inherits a lineage steeped in wisdom, artistry, and service. His paternal great-grandfather, Dr. Hari Gopal Gupta, was the Royal Physician of Jodhpur in the 1800s — a name still honoured in Rajasthan’s records of the court. His grandfather, Dr. A. M. Gupta, was a freedom fighter remembered in the Quit India Movement, with a street still bearing his name — Doctor Gupta Street, Ajmer District.

From his mother’s side, Anuragk descends from the landed family of the Sundarbans, with his great-grandfather Rai Saheb Haridas Gupta — founder of the Shimla Kali Bari Temple — and a line of Sanskrit scholars and musicians who nurtured the arts and the sacred alike. This confluence of royal service, scholarship, and devotion became the foundation of his life’s canvas.

As a child, Anuragk’s creative instinct blossomed amidst the misty pine valleys of Solan, Himachal Pradesh, where silence, mountains, and temple bells became his first tutors. What began as charcoal sketches on walls evolved into an artistic philosophy — a search for beauty beyond form. His gift was soon recognized by Justice Onkar Singh, who invited him to restore the works of Sikh master painter Sobha Singh — a sacred apprenticeship that shaped his early years.

Guided by mentors and refined through life’s crucibles, Anurag’s artistic language evolved from realism and surrealism to his own expression — Libre Essence — an intuitive, spiritually resonant style where every brushstroke becomes a mantra. His works have since been appreciated by Pope John Paul II and acknowledged by Queen Elizabeth II, marking milestones of global recognition that few Indian artists have achieved.

Parallel to his creative journey, Anurag pursued an MBA in Human Resource Management, building a 25-year career in HR and leadership — crowned with a Leadership and Change Management Certificate from Harvard University. This union of structure and soul, people and purpose, refined him not only as an artist but as a spiritual leader — one who bridges inner evolution with outer excellence.

Today, through Libre Essence Studio Ananta, Anurag stands as a Spiritual Artist-Leader — a voice for a new creative consciousness. His paintings, sculptures, and reliefs are not mere artworks but meditations in colour and silence — each one a sacred offering that bridges the seen and unseen, reminding us that true art is not made by hand alone, but by the soul in surrender.

“To paint is to pray; to sculpt is to serve; to create is to remember.”
